Solar Photovoltaic Project Aberdeen Proving Ground

Description: The Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), DLA Energy has a requirement for an on-site solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Requirements:

The Contractor shall  generate a minimum of 10 MW and produce solar energy at a price that meets or is lower than the current cost of conventional electricity.

The following sites are available for project development:

  • Ground Mount. Solar energy generated on six (6) open and unobstructed land parcels (comprised of earth, cement, or rubble). A total of 43.7 acres is available
  • Landfill. The majority of the landfill is flat, unobstructed and maintained. Developers can only use non-penetrating, ballasted mounting systems. A total of 18 acres is available
  • Parking Lot Canopy. The canopies should be no lower than 12 feet on the bottom of the sloped canopy, and should be designed to minimize the loss of parking spots. A total of 27.5 acres is available covering two large parking lots
  • Rooftop. All roofs being considered for PV siting are flat and were built within the last 10 years. A total of 8.5 acres is available
