AEC NASA AMES BIOSCIENCES LABORATORY N288

Description: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Ames Research Center (ARC), has a requirement for providing a new Bioscience Laboratory.

Requirements: 

The new two-story, 40,000 square foot (sf.) building will consist of approximately 19,000 sf. of wet laboratory and laboratory support space and approximately 21,000 sf. of enclosed and open office space, conference rooms, and break rooms.
Some key building features include:

- Biosafety Level 2 wet labs with laboratory grade utility systems, such as purified water, instrument grade compressed air, and laboratory vacuum. - A large number of chemical fume hoods and a sophisticated laboratory exhaust system. - Support spaces, including procedure rooms, tissue culture rooms, autoclave/sterilization, and controlled environment rooms.

The scope of work shall also include site work, installation of underground utilities, grading and paving, and site landscaping.

Silo Shell With Flooring

Description: MSFC has a requirement for a structure to house a 7.2m Deep Space Habitat (DSH) Concept Demonstrator.  The structure will be used to build and assess configurations that may be used for future missions. Human Factors Engineering (HFE) assessments within the volume will allow for simulation and testing of proposed designs and implementation into final designs for the Habitat that will launch.

Requirements: 

To effectively support the NASA requirements, the following features are the acceptable minimum requirements for a 7.2m DSH Concept Demonstrator.  

1.    System SHALL be erected in Building 4649.  
2.    Shall include Technical Specifications and Users Manuals in hardcopy or .pdf format in English language.
3.    Structure SHALL be between 7.2 and 7.5 m in diameter.
4.    Structure SHALL be outfitted with 2 floors of adjustable height.
5.    Willingness to store structure until room can be made in 4649 for it to be erected.
6.    Erection of structure in designated area is necessary.
7.    Structure SHALL hold a minimum of 10,000 lbs. on each of the 2 floors.
8.    Structure SHALL have accessibility to both floors through somewhat simple methods.
9.    EV74 SHALL be able to install a plywood floor on 24 in. centers, subfloor frame supplied by manufacturer.
10.    SHALL have access doors on both floors.
11.    SHALL be moveable to other locations within 4649.

Facilities Engineering Design and Inspection Services (FEDIS) at MSFC

Description: NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Facilities Engineering Design and Inspection Services (FEDIS) utilizing Architect and Engineering (A/E) processes (FAR Part 36.6).

•  Preparing architectural, civil, structural, environmental, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, utility control system, and multi-discipline project designs in support of Local projects (construction less than $1M). Designs include criteria development, construction drawings, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates, Adding and or modifying the existing building automation system (MSFC’s system is called the Utilities Control System) to reflect additions or changes to the HVAC systems (or process equipment) at the MSFC facilities, Managing the existing, historical drawings files, Assessing and updating the above-and-below ground utility maps, Making recommendations for digging permits, Preparing as-built drawings for CoF (above $1M) and Local (below $1M) projects, Performing configuration management, Providing miscellaneous tasks such as special studies, land surveys, geotechnical analysis, etc., Providing construction support, Answering request for information, Reviewing  construction submittals, Incorporating energy efficiency and sustainability in planning, designing, constructing, and maintaining MSFC facilities, and Certifying new facilities under the United States Green Building Council’s “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” (LEED) program.

ImaGen and iHawk Hardware Maintenance

Description: NASA/MSFC has the requirement to renew the hardware maintenance of the ImaGen and iHawk Rackmount Systems plus Peripheral Devices in support of the Avionics System Testing and Development.

Additional Information: 

CCC provides the ImaGen and iHawk Systems with their proprietary RedHawk Linux real-time operating system as well as the certification for these systems. Because of the complexity of the real-time computing, the systems running the real-time operating system shall be certified by the provider of the systems. All peripheral I/O devices and their associated driver software shall be certified by the real-time operation system vendor.
